Ski holidays and ski holiday hotels in Austria
From our Innsbruck office, we have skied and visited around 100 of the top resorts in Austria. We would be happy to try and help with your holiday needs - contact us.
We think Austria is quite simply the most skiing obsessed country in the world, with skiing permeating every aspect of life. Austria has some of the most beautiful ski holiday villages, it hosts the most celebrated ski race in the world and in terms of value for money and quality, ski holidays in many of the ski holiday resorts are hard to match. And if you think Austrian skiing is all about intimate valleys and forests, then take one of the glacier lifts to over 3400m – not a wooden farmhouse or church to be seen.

Latest snow conditions from the Pitztal Glacier on the 16th November 2008.
The ski and snow conditions at the Pitztal Glacier on the 16th November 2008 were really excellent with fresh powder snow and blue skies. Off-piste is always more limited on the glaciers at this time of the year due to the number of crevasses but there was some excellent powder snow just off the main pistes. Weekenders ensured that the terraces were packed with sun bathers. With more snow scheduled in the coming days many of the non-glacial resorts here in Austria are scheduled to open.
Early season skiing in Austria
Austria is a nation of skiers and snowboarders and ski resorts open for the locals some time before most inbound tourists arrive around Christmas. Generally speaking most ski resort aim to open mid November (conditions permitting).
Glacier skiing in Austria in the Autumn
Glacier skiing in Austria is rated the best in the world with the
Hintertux Glacier, the
Solden Glacier and the
Stubai Glacier offering some really impressive ski areas and lift systems and good access from Innsbruck and Innsbruck airport. The Kaunertal Glacier and the Pitztal Glacier are also accessible form Innsbruck. Outside of the Tirol, the Schladming - Dachstein Glacier, the
Molltaler Glacier and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier make up the bulk of the other glacier skiing options in Austria. Usually the skiing from mid to late October is impressive, whilst in November much of the ski area will likely be open on the glaciers.
